Philosophy and Style–Orlando Natural Light Photographer

Because this bird believes in portraiture for the cool kids.  Because I value the perfectly imperfect.  Because I believe in bright and breezy, but I also let the clouds roll in.  Because I use the entire world as my studio.

Because I have an unusual way of seeing the world.  Because I heart the intimate closeup.  Because you see something in my aesthetic that matches your own.

Do you know me yet?  If not, read on.

My most frequently asked question:  what’s with the bird?

The quick answer:  I’m obsessed.  Birds convey freedom, movement, and a lightness that we humans would do well to emulate.  Sparrows in particular symbolize good fortune and the journey homeward; sailors often had them tattooed on their bodies for luck and the journey towards true love.  The phrase ‘sunbright sparrow’ comes directly from one of my favorite bands, The Decemberists, who sing in “Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then),” “Look for me with the sun-bright sparrow/I will come on the breath of the wind.”  Since I shoot most of my images under the sun and wear a tattoo of a sparrow on my own wrist, I found it only fitting that my studio take its name from these lovely motifs.
